Archivist CLI / MCPresearch filings from any shell
Archivist CLI brings 10 years of Canadian and US regulatory filings to your terminal, your CI pipeline, or any AI agent that can exec a subprocess. Ask questions in natural language and get cited markdown back. Every call lands in your Mosaic web account for audit.
curl -fsSL https://install.mosaic-finance.com | shnpx -y @mosaic-finance/archivist installbrew install mosaic-finance-inc/tap/archivistAfter install, run archivist auth login to connect your account.
How it works
Install
One command installs the binary and the Claude Code skill.
curl -fsSL https://install.mosaic-finance.com | shAlso available via npx, Homebrew, GitHub Releases, and go install.
Authenticate
Get your CLI token from the Mosaic dashboard, then set it in your shell.
archivist auth loginexport ARCHIVIST_TOKEN=ak_...Run
Ask a question. Get cited markdown to stdout.
archivist chat "What did Barrick Gold say about their Nevada operations in the most recent annual filing?"What you can do
archivist chatNatural-language Q&A over 10 years of Canadian and US regulatory filings. Cited markdown to stdout.
archivist chat "What did Agnico Eagle say about water management?" --company agnico_eagle_caarchivist tableGrid-style research across multiple companies and columns. Spec-file or fluent-flag input.
archivist table run spec.yaml --format json | jq '.rows[].cells'archivist companiesResolve a company name to its canonical issuer key before running research.
archivist companies search "Barrick"Built for agents
A Claude Code skill ships alongside the binary at ~/.claude/skills/archivist/. It teaches Claude how to invoke Archivist correctly, pick the right flags, and interpret exit codes.
/archivist What were the key capital allocation decisions in Kinross Gold's 2024 10-K?The skill installs automatically alongside the binary via curl|sh and npm channels.
Every verb runs from bash, cron, Cursor, Cowork, or any agent that can exec a subprocess.
Set up MCP
The binary you installed above is also a stdio MCP server. Run it as archivist mcp serve and any MCP host can call Archivist research tools directly.
Prerequisites
- The
archivistbinary installed and on PATH. The install commands above cover macOS and Linux via curl|sh and brew. Windows binaries ship via GitHub Releases and go install. - An
ak_API token, minted from your Mosaic account page. MCP access requires the Pro + CLI plan. Tokens from accounts without the CLI add-on receive a 402 at runtime. - The token goes into the snippet's
envblock asARCHIVIST_TOKEN.
Claude Desktop
Add the snippet to claude_desktop_config.json and restart Claude Desktop after saving.

Claude Desktop has no Linux build. On Linux, use Cursor or Claude Code instead.
Tools appear as companies_search, chat, table_run and friends under the archivist server.
Cursor
The JSON is identical to Claude Desktop's.

Cowork
Cowork adds local MCP servers from the UI, not a config file. Open Settings → Developer and add a local MCP server with these values:
archivistmcp serveARCHIVIST_TOKEN=ak_...Availability depends on your workspace admin enabling local MCP servers.
Where the wedge lives
Every CLI call persists to your Mosaic web account. You can watch a session live at mosaic-finance.com/chat/[id] and review the full history later. Operator-confirmed entity matching is enforced before research runs. Citations are required in every response. Nothing runs speculatively.
Requires Archivist Pro. Pro $30 + CLI add-on $15 = $45/mo total. Annual: $24 + $12 = $36/mo.
